A Week of Port Integrity Collaboration in Jakarta

A busy week in Jakarta, with one message running through every meeting: integrity in ports works best when everyone moves together.

We met the Ombudsman RI to discuss collaboration on port oversight and integrity. MACN highlighted the value of collective action and open dialogue between institutions. The Ombudsman welcomed the opportunity to work together and expressed support for structured public-private dialogue, particularly on vessel services and licensing.

At Cometsea 2026, hosted by SEKOLAH TINGGI ILMU PELAYARAN (STIP) Indonesia, we signed an MoU with APPI, the Association of Indonesian Maritime Studies Programs. It will expand the Next Generation of Seafarers (NGS) training program and support its national roll-out across APPI member institutions. This brings integrity awareness to future maritime professionals early in their careers.

Thank you to Ahmad Qisa’i, our local partner in Indonesia, for leading the work on the ground, and to everyone who made this week possible!

This workshop forms part of MACN’s Transparent Trade Routes initiative. Learn more about the project at: https://ttr.macn.dk
