Latest news from MACN

Indonesia is a core focus of the Transparent Trade Routes project, reflecting the strategic role of its maritime and hinterland transport sectors in regional and global supply chains, as well as the practical integrity challenges faced by companies operating in complex environments.

In Indonesia, corruption risks can arise at multiple points along trade routes, affecting both large companies and small and mediumsized enterprises (SMEs). While many businesses are committed to ethical conduct, they often lack safe, practical mechanisms to address corrupt demands or to engage collectively with peers and public authorities.

Transparent Trade Routes addresses these challenges by promoting a Collective Action approach that brings private sector actors together around shared integrity risks. The project combines capacitybuilding, peer exchange and structured dialogue with public institutions to support companies in resisting corruption and applying compliance principles in practice.

Key elements of the project in Indonesia include the establishment and strengthening of a Private Sector Collective Action Alliance, integrity and compliance training tailored to operational realities, and sustained engagement with relevant stakeholders. Over time, the project aims to create the conditions for durable improvements in transparency, trust and cooperation, contributing to more resilient and competitive supply chains.
