In Germany, Transparent Trade Routes recognises the important role played by European companies, including SMEs, in global supply chains and the specific integrity and compliance risks linked to international trade.

German SMEs operating across borders may face complex requirements related to sanctions, export controls and third-party interactions. Navigating these risks can be challenging, particularly for smaller companies with limited compliance resources, despite strong commitments to ethical business conduct.

Transparent Trade Routes addresses these challenges by developing and delivering tailored training and practical tools that support companies in managing integrity and compliance risks in real-world trading environments. The project also facilitates cross-country learning, drawing on experience from other contexts to highlight common challenges and practical responses.

In Germany, the project places emphasis on sustainability of outcomes, including through MACN’s Associate Membership model, to ensure that learning and tools remain available beyond the project lifecycle. This supports longer-term capacity-building and contributes to stronger integrity practices within international trade.
