Workshop: Navigating Sanctions and Export Controls – Hamburg, September 2026
Germany is one of Europe’s most significant maritime trade hubs, and German companies, particularly SMEs, are increasingly exposed to complex compliance obligations around sanctions and export controls. Understanding these rules, and knowing how to act when facing a potentially non-compliant request, is no longer a niche concern: it is a core operational requirement.
As part of Transparent Trade Routes, MACN is hosting a free, practice-oriented workshop in Hamburg on 22 September 2026, in partnership with law firm Morrison Foerster and with the support of the German Shipowners’ Association (VDR) and the Zentralverband Deutscher Schiffsmakler (ZVDS).
The half-day session will run from 9am to 12:30pm at the Hamburg Scandic Emporio and will cover practical guidance on sanctions and export controls compliance, grounded in real-life case studies tailored to maritime operations.
Speakers include Sagayamary Appavou, MACN’s Global Compliance Lead, alongside Morrison Foerster partners Nathanael Kurcab and Felix Helmstädter, and Senior Associate Alexander Eisenfeld.
